Al-Modon newspaper reported, “House Speaker Nabih Berri said during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa: ‘Give me a ceasefire and the rest is up to me.’” She pointed out that, “The American side did not give any clear commitment, but merely listened, while the same ambassador had previously justified Israel’s continuation of its military operations, even advising him to ‘forget the south’, considering that it might practically turn into a security zone, after Lebanon had previously refused to turn it into an economic zone as part of the proposals that preceded the war.”
